Meyers’ Christmas tree lights need replacing
Lightning struck the tree in Meyers that is decorated each holiday season. And when this happened it shorted out most of the strands of lights.
Meyers Community Foundation is scrambling to raise cash for the new lights.
The 4th annual Holiday Tree Lighting is Dec. 5 at 5pm.
Donations may be mailed to: MCF, P.O. Box 550278, Meyers, CA 96155. The donation levels are below. Donors’ name will be included on the 2014-15 Community Donation Plaque located next to the tree:
$25 — Bronze
$50 — Silver
$100 – Gold
$250 — Platinum.
How much will it cost to replace the lights?
Why did they wait until the week before T-Giving to start worrying and begging for donations?
Why dont they just go to kmart and get some lights? Why do they have to be so overpriced? Then spend extra money for plaques?
Ridiculous!!
Lightning striking that tree is a message from above that the proposed Meyers Plan is not liked.
Merry Christmas! 1. We all love and support the lights, but if MCF is asking for money you need to set a goal with the amount needed to raise. 2. Why don’t you ask local businesses it you can put a “light fund jar/stocking” on their counter…. We have an awesome coffee house, a fun bar, yummy restaurants, gas stations and more…. 3. Also, leaving lights in the tree year round is tacky… Maybe creating a fund to service the lights putting them up and down needs to be considered. 4. The plaque idea is a waste of money. When people give let it be from the heart not people looking for recognition. Yes, there are always ones who give more than take, but their rewards are bigger within. Merry Christmas, I will be looking for a jar/stocking at my favorite coffee house! :)
How about hitting up Ed Cook and have one of his tree climbers install them and Ed to donate the time? The lights can’t cost that much and agreed, they should be taken down after the holidays.
