trpa• Devin Middlebrook has been hired by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency as an environmental education specialist. He replaces Kristi Boosman. Lucia Maloney has been hired as an associate planner, replacing Shay Navarro who took another position within TRPA. Bruce Barr has been hired as the forester to replace Megan Scheeline.

• Gary Bell of Sierra Cycle Works is featured in the November issue of Bike magazine.

• A series of brown bag lunches this fall will focus on innovations in transportation, the environment, and community investment.     How do you become an environmental education specialist without a strong science background?
    You know what I am talking about.
    Chemistry, physics, biology, geology, and botany to name a few disciplines important to understanding the environment.

    Ah, Beagle, you know how it works: he’s got a TOBN connection. (Tahoe Old Boys’ Network) and an MBA. Everything is political with our agencies. Long-term involvement with the environmental movement is what matters. Science doesn’t.
