Lake Tahoe Community College is seeking men and women of various ages, types and ethnicities for its upcoming production of the dark comedy “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot” by Stephen Adly Guirgis.

Auditions are Jan. 6 at 7pm in LTCC’s Duke Theatre. Performances will be March 13-22.

Set in a time-bending, darkly comic world between heaven and hell, “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot” re-examines the plight and fate of the New Testament’s most infamous and unexplained sinner. The action takes place in Hope, in a corner of Purgatory, and the cosmic court is in session when a defense attorney, outraged that Judas remains condemned for eternity, obtains a writ from God to force a retrial. The defense and prosecuting attorney (who, comically, has arrived from hell for the trial) bring in a number of colorful witnesses, including Judas’ mother, street-talking saints, Sigmund Freud, Mother Teresa, and a jaded Satan.

Auditions will consist of readings from the play. Scripts are available on reserve in the LTCC library. Audition information and character breakdowns may be found online.

Opportunities for light and sound board operators, stage manager, backstage crew, and construction crew are also available.
