Job growth fails to help paychecks of workers
By Dionne Searcey, New York Times
The nation’s economy is entering 2015 in its best shape since the recession, but the improving job market has so far failed to help most Americans earn significantly more at work.
On Friday, the Labor Department reported that employers added another 252,000 workers to their payrolls in December, capping a year in which total employment rose by 2.95 million, the largest advance since 1999.
The unemployment rate also improved, edging down last month to 5.6 percent from 5.8 percent in November. The rate plunged just over a full percentage point between 2013 and 2014, the largest decline since 1984.
But a drop in average hourly earnings last month, after a healthy gain in November, sidetracked hopes that a tighter labor market was beginning to lead to broader wage gains.
Unless you work for a government, raises are a thing of the past. LTCC got their bond, and now they all get raises. Makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
It’s all in the numbers. The number one point being that there are nearly 100 million out of the work force thanks to Bumbling Bummer’s conversion of people to the welfare systems and SSI which creates an illusion of low unemployment by not counting those who aren’t looking or wanting employment when they are on the government poverty and dependence system.
Obama has turned this country into a huge embarrassment! He is the biggest embarrassment of all.
Thank God for Boehner and McConnell and rest of the GOP for the pro-worker agenda they have consistently championed for the past six years. Where oh where would we be without them?
Actually kit and justanass are pretty much what I think are embarASSing on this blog…FINGER POINTERS. What have they done? Just whiners….
Nature, you are more blind than a bat. Fool!
They try and try to prop him up when he keeps falling and failing and fumbling and mumbling after watching sports all weekend while the world gathered and he didn’t go because it wasn’t about him and he can’t say who the enemies of freedom are. Bummer is an affirmative inaction type of AWOL excuse with all of the hype and hope gone and just another failed liberal in a cheap suit. The world sees it for what it is and he will soon be forgotten as he is not part of the future of leadership. He will be gone soon in a mansion somewhere and will become nothing more than a foot note of history. The more important question is what will happen to and who will support the near fifty million he put into poverty?
@Just’n’ass-you are a pathetic trainwreck of a cretin..like a guitar with only one string, or a hillbilly with only one tooth! Jon Stewart did a nice little piece on who some of those ‘supporters’ of free speech were, and then showed how the governments of some of those marching arm in arm were, at the same time jailing, or caning(yes, as in whipping in public) journalists in their own country.
Is the Daily Show too liberal for you? Here’s another
from ‘the Daily Caller-not exactly a liberal blog: “Reporters Without Borders, which promotes journalistic freedom, stated that several “countries that restrict freedom of information” were represented at the march. The organization especially called out Turkey, Egypt, Russia, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates and Gabon for their hypocrisy. Many of these countries punish journalists for far smaller offenses than those committed by Charlie Hebdo’s staff.
Basically, had he showed up, you would be screeching about him ‘pal-ing around with terrorists. You are a disgusting hypocrite who doesn’t let facts or truth get in the way of your hate fueled opinions.
Admin…please get a voting system on here….these guys are hilarious and i would love to see what everybody else thinks.
@business owner…do you disagree with the information I posted regarding the hypocrisy of ‘marching for freedom of speech when one’s country is imprisoning journalists for exercising….freedom of speech?’ I truly would like to know your opinion on this.
Ha!
More hollow political hyperbole from justass.
