He takes over for Nancy Gibson who retired in January.

Marsolais has been named deputy forest supervisor in February 2011. Prior to that he was acting supervisor for LTBMU for 120 days starting in December 2010. He temporarily left his job as recreation and land staff officer in the Inyo forest to lead the Lake Tahoe office.

He has worked on seven forests since the mid-1990s. Before that Marsolais worked for the Bureau of Land Management.

In 2014, he served as special assistant to the regional forester, providing strategic guidance and direction on hiring efforts for the Pacific Southwest Region.

Apparently he is a fisherman. Maybe he is what the basin needs for a vibrant sport fishing environment. Keep your fingers crossed.

If he is a fisherman than maybe he will see the mass destruction of aquatic and fish habitat about to be completed by his team on the upper truckee river near sunset ranch.

Hopefully he can figure out a way to hire more law enforcement personnel to work weekends and holidays, when it is needed most. And why aren’t the forest service offices staffed on holidays and weekends, when they are needed most ?

The area by the airport below elks club is one of the best fisheries around. There are logging roads that have been constructed and a huge pile of dirt near hwy 50. Huge disturbance in a meadow with equipment moving dirt for years now. This area is about to be destroyed and a natural mussel uprooted. Sad…

    Fisherman,
Maybe Marsolais needs updating on the river project and what it is destroying. Can’t hurt giving him your info.
