It has been a busy weekend for lawyer Alicia Ashcraft.

For the past few days, the managing partner at Ashcraft & Barr, a local firm specializing in business regulation, has been unpacking boxes and putting the finishing touches on its newly expanded office. In December, Ashcraft & Barr partnered with Colorado-based marijuana law experts Vicente Sederberg to form a practice dedicated to serving the needs of Nevada’s budding medical marijuana industry.

The firm is one of several ancillary businesses cropping up throughout the state that are capitalizing on the growing demand for cannabis-related products and services. With the arrival of commercial producers and dispensaries comes a new set of market needs, from accessory vendors to greenhouse manufacturers and security officers to lawyers.

Legal cannabis sales in the United States ballooned 74 percent in 2014, to $2.7 billion from $1.5 billion in 2013. The market in Nevada is expected to grow 341 percent in 2015, according to ArcView Group, a market research firm and investment network specializing in legal cannabis.

Nature Bats Last, I just kicked out the tweekers who were renting my old home. Who asks to rent next? Growers!
Fortunately I’ve got some GOOD prospective renters thanks to Kae Reed and JoAnne Conners references, and, just thru word of mouth, from my good old neighbors. My neighbors have been slappin’ me on the back for gettin’ rid of the druggies.
I don’t want grow houses around me or on my proprerty, I don’t want people on crank around here , nor do my neighbors, and I don’t want moldy grow houses that are a fire hazard around here. Is that too much to ask?
The house is freshly painted(thanks Charley Lolli and Glen!), next comes new drapes and carpet and cleanin’ up the back yard.
She’ll be good as new. After ownin’ that old cabin for 40 years I ain’t givin’ er’ up!!!
C’mon by 2623 Knox for a look see. I’ll be planting in the front yard come soon, probably some native plants and some veggies.
To quote Mr. Rogers ” Won’t you be my neighbor?”

OLS I sure hope that the next renters are better for you and the whole neighborhood (several I know personally). It is a quality of life issue, not being comfortable in your own home with wierdness from neighborhood renters can make life difficult. I think the more we talk about it openly, the more it can hopefully be resolved. Maybe the cops will see the addresses and be more vigilent. PEACE
