Then and now: That funny little A-frame

This booth stood alone in the Crescent V Center parking lot near Stateline for more than 30 years.
Its peculiarity made it a bit of a local identifying landmark such as, “Oh, it’s by that funny little A-frame.” Standing until about 2000, it had housed numerous businesses including banking, travel agency, tourist maps and coupons, and time-share sales among others. Here, in its final days, behind is seen the new Heavenly gondola.
No building means more parking spaces and a better view to Heavenly’s gondola in the distance.
Redevelopment and renaming as the Village Center provided parking spaces today where the A-frame had stood. The gondola is still visible above the Heavenly Village Cinema and the Wyland Gallery.

Bill, The funny little A-frame was just that. Never went inside myself but recall it being there quite awhile. It was just a stones throw away from Cecil’s Market on the corner and across the hiway,sorta kitty corner, was a Texaco gas station owned by Gordon Nichols, I worked there one summer during high school. The filling station was next to a small cafe and motel on the corner of Park and 50.

Remember the similar building at the corner of the Round Hill parking lot? They had the best sandwiches and burgers on the NV side.

I love the big snow piles in the background. The interior of that A-frame was quite small. About the same size as the cubicle I worked in during my career days!
Yes remember the huge piles of snow that used to sit at that corner of the parking lot every winter, 3 times the height of the cars and more at times every winter. Was it Tahoe Savings or El Dorado Savings that once occupied the hut.. can’t recall.
