TRPA educating real estate community on BMP disclosures

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will host several workshops for the real estate community regarding best management practices and an enhanced BMP disclosure form for real estate transactions.

TRPA requires people selling property to disclose the property’s BMP status to the purchaser prior to sale. The purchaser must submit a BMP disclosure form to TRPA within 30 days of sale. The new BMP disclosure form can be submitted to TRPA electronically.

These upcoming workshops offer an opportunity for real estate professionals to learn more about this new BMP disclosure form as well as other point of sale disclosure requirements and TRPA systems available for people to research property information online.

They are scheduled for:

· March 31, 10am, Tahoe/Sierra Board of Realtors, 12315 Deerfield Drive, Truckee.

· April 28, 8am, Nevada Board of Realtors, Parasol Building, 948 Incline Way, Incline Village.

· May 6, noon, TRPA Offices, 128 Market St., Stateline

I am as enthusiastic as anyone can be about protecting lake clarity but feel the need to point (again) to the endless hypocrisy always at work here. Corporate developers like Edgewood are allowed to dig and grade any time of the year while homeowners would be crucified for doing the same.

An off roader was recently caught red-handed driving through a wet meadow located on publicly owned land. What happened? Did law enforcement or TRPA or anyone else do a thing? Nothing–no restoration requirement, fine or public service required from the offender.

But we hope TRPA will continue to dot the I’s and cross the T’s on every minute BMP requirement regardless of how far the homeowner lives from the lake or from any creek or pond. Its fine to do that as long as the rules are evenly enforced across the board.

But what are the chances of that?

Really?? I commented on what you wrote about BMP .I was critical of the TRPA and some of the things they do. What I wrote never saw the light of day, just never got thru I guess.. Just tellin’ you I’m in agreement. OLS

Really and OLS: I agree 100% but what are the chances? I have stated before, the head of the TRPA said there is no science behind BMPs its just policy! So what are the chances? More forms and rules to make work with no science. Now a new owner has to pay for a study and file a form and a fee? Give me a break!!!!
