Law enforcement focusing on DUIs
The Avoid the 6 DUI Task Force is deploying officers this holiday weekend at DUI saturation patrols throughout El Dorado County to stop and arrest drunken or drugged drivers, and heighten awareness of the deadly impact alcohol and drugs can have.
Additional officers will deploy to stop and arrest those who drive impaired by either alcohol and/or drugs.
Extra patrols will be in Placerville, South Lake Tahoe and the unincorporated areas in county.
Funding for the Avoid DUI Task Force is by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Policing for profit.
writing tickets is easier then solving crimes.
The DUI checkpoints are a great public service. I hope they also check for/remind drivers that cell phone use can be deadly too. Thank you CHP!
Dog-
Are you just being you, or are you actually against holiday campaigns to keep impaired drivers off the roads?
Granted, it does probably raise some court revenue, but I don’t see it in the same class as the huge fines for speeding etc. that were the topic of very recent news articles.
If the program keeps one local or tourist in their home/motel instead of in their car while impaired it will have served its purpose.
