STPUD contemplating changing elections
South Tahoe Public Utility District may change how board members are elected.
Up for discussion at the June 4 2pm meeting is whether to change to an at-large system. Since the district’s formation directors have been elected to an office designed by one of five seat numbers.
The board is looking for public input. Emails may be sent to mguttry@stpud.dst.ca.us. The meeting is at 1275 Meadow Crest Drive, South Lake Tahoe.
How about letting every STPUD customer have a vote.
Every STPUD customer does have a vote when electing the BOD. If you live in the district boundaries, you have a vote. More information in the “Elections” section of this web page (http://www.stpud.us/board.html).
If you own a home but it isn’t your primary residence you don’t have a vote. You pay the bills but don’t have a voice.
Change it so each STPUD account has a vote, whether the account holder lives here full time or part time or not at all. Just like in an HOA. Those who actually pay the bills should be the ones the STPUD Board takes its direction from.
My vote is at least ALL VACATION rentals have to install bear boxes immediately, by January 2016 or face fines. If you second home owners can afford to have a vacation rental you can afford a bear box. Give the local year round residents a break.
I think anyone that owns property here should have a vote. If they don’t live here full time? They are still paying property taxes which are always rising, a STPUD bill and STR bill. Many vacation homes see little for their money spent for services not used.
Let their voices be heard! OLS
Kits-
This is about water and sewer….not bear boxes. have another cup of coffee
Cranky: Sometimes I just can’t keep track. LOL
If someone inherited numerous properties in Lake Tahoe because they are a member of the lucky sperm club- should they be allowed to vote numerous times on the same issue?-that’s an icy slope
