To honor Virginia City’s mining heritage, the town celebrates with Muckfest: Mining, Whiskey & Cigars.

A full day of activities is scheduled in the Mining Village at the Delta parking lot, including mining demonstrations and exhibits. In the Whiskey & Cigar Lounge, study the old West’s favorite libations by sampling more than 20 whiskeys.

Bring the kids to learn about the mining and reclamation process at the cookie mining station or take them to Virginia City Mining Company where they can test their luck panning for gold or gems.

The event is June 13 from 10am-5pm.

SLT should embrace it’s roots as well during the mid summer season. Local thespians portraying historical figures like Billy Lapham, E.B. Smith, Van Sickle, Arthur Marion Hill, the Park ancestors, Rowlands, and other people who built the area up starting in the mid 1850s and 1860s through the early 1900s. It could become a tourist draw like Genoa has around Halloween.
The Historical Society would be the basis of information but someone would need to fund the effort. Hold the event at one location or even through out the city.
SLT needs more events than just what the casinos have.
Maybe it could be made a class at LTCC.
