Hiker airlifted from Cascade Falls to hospital
A Fairfield man had to be airlifted from the Cascade Falls area on Monday after injuring his leg in a fall.
Authorities said the 32-year-old was hopping between boulders above Cascade Falls when he slipped and fell into the water on June 8.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter took him to Lake Tahoe Airport. From there Calstar flew the victim to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Hiker airlifted from Cascade Falls! Become a member of Calstar by calling 1-888-207-5433. The cost to being a member is low and and it could save your life or one of your loved ones. That helicopter gets you to Renown Medical Center real quick.
Makes a great gift to buy a membership! OLS
That being said OLS, CALSTAR is not a rescue helicopter, it is a flying ambulance. Notice how in the video it was a Highway Patrol helicopter doing the hoist out. CALSTAR is not equipped to do any type of rescue. If there is a landing zone nearby, they will land and take you to the hospital (about $20,000 for the ride and all you get to see is the roof of the helicopter) A membership for $45 individual or $50 a year for a family takes care of what your insurance does not cover. Your health insurance fine print usually states that about $2,500 of “emergency transportation” is covered. Highway Patrol is free but they only transport you to the nearest area that an ambulance or another form (CALSTAR or Careflight) can pick you up. CALSTAR and Careflight have reciprocal agreements so a membership in either one will pay your excessive bill. A worthwhile investment for every individual who lives here in Tahoe and enjoys the outdoor lifestyle.
highway patrol is not free. tax money pays. people who get rescued should be billed.
“From their Calstar flew the victim to Renown Medical Center in Reno.”
Perhaps the grammar fairy will stop by the office and explain the “their, there and they’re” thing to the staff.
I’m wondering what was going on yesterday evening? I could hear helicopter(s) working the mountain for a couple of hours till dark. Trees in the way, so couldn’t tell if it was Tallac or Cathedral, but somewhere in that general vicinity.
L: Likely an autocorrect hiccup.
Grammar fairy visited.
