California lawmakers approve one of the toughest mandatory vaccination laws in the nation

California lawmakers on Thursday approved one of the toughest mandatory vaccination requirements in the nation, moving to end exemptions from state immunization laws based on religious or other personal beliefs.

The measure, among the most controversial taken up by the Legislature this year, would require more children who enter day care and school to be vaccinated against diseases including measles and whooping cough.

Those with medical conditions such as allergies and immune-system deficiencies, confirmed by a physician, would be excused from immunization. And parents could still decline to vaccinate children who attend private home-based schools or public independent studies off campus.

It is unclear whether Gov. Jerry Brown will sign the measure, which grew out of concern about low vaccination rates in some communities and an outbreak of measles at Disneyland that ultimately infected more than 150 people.

BO. YES! Of course I am a Liberal… proud of it. Just like Abe Lincoln was Liberal for freeing Slaves or Teddy Roosevelt for busting up big corporations or Wilson for starting the United Nations or FDR for starting Social Security or Ike for building the Federal Highways or Nixon for Environmental Protection etc and more.

It is none of my business whether a Woman wants to give birth or not. However, if I see a Woman is drunk and puts a kid in the car with her, then I am going to do try something about it. It’s called a “Society” BO, try it sometime. In a Society, we work for a common good. Vaccinations are part of the common good. And yes, I am old enough to remember kids that had Polio ages ago; it was not pretty. Society has tried to eradicate these diseases for a reason… they kill people.

In the “real” world, there are a lot of Humans with young or weak immune systems that cannot be vaccinated. So you “perfect” world comment is moot.

And your “un-corrupt government” comment is just libertarian troll bait. I sleep and live pretty well in the good ‘ol USA. If you have a zip code for your Libertarian “nirvana” without any civility, rules or laws, let me know.
