Calif. offering rebates on toilet, turf replacement

California residents can now get rebates to help replace old, inefficient toilets and thirsty lawns with water-saving alternatives, the state Department of Water Resources announced Wednesday.
The “turf and toilet” rebate program will use $24 million in funds from Proposition 1, a water bond approved by voters in 2014, to help replace more than 10 million square feet of lawn and an estimated 60,000 toilets, department officials said.
Each $100 toilet rebate is likely costing taxpayers $350 by the time the program’s administrative and bureaucratic charges are paid
My hope is that more people get into the turf buy back thru STPUD and conserve water by getting rid of that old lawn and using low flow toilets and faucets thru out the house.
