SLT neighborhood to be evacuated during test
South Lake Tahoe and allied law enforcement agencies will be hosting a neighborhood evacuation drill Oct. 1 from 10am-noon.
The neighborhood will receive a reverse 911 call to test the system.
Evacuation maps for the entire city can be found online.
The Highlands Evacuation Drill will affect approximately 160 homes and 270 residents. Residents who wish to participate in the evacuation drill are encouraged to do so by “evacuating” to the snow dump area at the end of Sierra Boulevard. A public information officer will be at the site as well as Red Cross serving snacks.
First, since it is now October, who exactly is going to be evacuated 10am to 12pm on a Thurs?
Everyone is at their ‘real’ home because their kids are in school and they are back at work.
The number of ‘second’ homes and vacation rentals ‘motel row’, are mostly empty except for weekends, holidays and ‘bachelor’ type parties girls and all..yea those parties are fun!
Especially fun for the real residents charged with securing the empty properties in their own self defense.
The ‘real’ numbers would be nice to know! Please let the readers know how many people are ‘evacuated’ from Highlandwoods on Thurs!

What neighborhood is considered the Highlands?
Probably highland woods, the tract bordered by rubicon and silverwood. It’s behind the jack in the box
Thank you Mark. I’ve never heard it called that before.
