Opinion: Colleges will pay for stifling diversity of ideology
By Patrick Everson, Las Vegas Review-Journal
Colleges and universities are supposed to be marketplaces of ideas, but that’s less and less true today. While higher education systems champion diversity of race, ethnicity and sexual identity, they’re completely unconcerned with diversity of ideology.
Nothing highlighted that better than a story last week from The Cornell Daily Sun, an independent, student-run newspaper serving the Cornell University community.
Phoebe Keller and Emily Friedman reported that more than 96 percent of Cornell faculty donations to political candidates over the past four years went to Democrats. Out of 323 donors, only 15 gave to conservative causes, contributing about $16,000, while nearly $574,000 flowed to Democrats.
Very old news that uber liberal far left winger commies have taken over our schools and colleges. Is it any wonder that the American hating, one worlders are half way to destroying America by instilling self-hate and American hating into their students psychic.
Well actually I am surprised there aren’t a dozen comments on this one, but yeah – maybe “don’t give up” should contemplate the general relationship between being educated and the likelihood you can still support xenophobic ultra right-wing platforms. Yes there are educated right wing policy proponents, but ultra-nationalist views have always draw “popular” support from the less educated, which hey, by the way seems to go with lack of support for public education? Gee, what a coincidence! :)
Actually, the SF Chronicle website reported how Fox News got kicked off Cornell’s campus when they did a follow up to this report.
It’s getting a little scary that the thought police feel that the freedom of the press doesn’t apply to them!
