‘Ellis’ to be aired at LTCC

The 14-minute film “Ellis” will be shown at Lake Tahoe Community College this month followed by a discussion led by LTCC Assistant Professor Albert Ponce.

“Ellis” was shot in the now-abandoned Ellis Island Hospital complex in New York City’s harbor, and tells the story of Ellis Island’s early years through the experience of one immigrant who passed through its doors. The film tells the story of the ghosts of America’s past, and the individuals who fled poverty, discrimination, and dictatorships for a chance at a new life.

It also foreshadows the plight of those who currently seek the same opportunities and safety in this country and other parts of the world.

The free event is Nov. 16 at 7pm in the Duke Theatre.

    Hmmm,

A discussion of the 14 min film will be led by LTCC Associate Prof Albert Ponce. That would be the reason to go see 14 min of film.

If you are not interested in a discussion with the Prof…don’t bother attending.
