Lake Tahoe Community College’s board of education on Nov. 10 voted to terminate Ben Wade as the student outreach and equity director effective Nov. 30.

Wade has had the position since the start of the calendar year. He was on probation for one year.

He was also the men’s soccer coach. He was put on paid administrative leave starting Nov. 5 for the rest of the month. Reasons for his dismissal have not been released.

Neither LTCC President Kindred Murillo nor board President Kerry David would comment Tuesday night about the action taken.

Wade was not at the meeting and could not be reached for comment.

College officials have been meeting with players, especially sophomores who will be seeking four-year institutions to transfer to next fall, to ensure their needs are met.

OK that sucks. Sounds like he wasn’t fired just not, “rehired.” They couldn’t even bother with letting him represent himself at a hearing or anything? Sad thing is he’s got name recognition and a history of success and so he’ll find someplace else to take his success to.

This is pretty serious action for any college to take. He was escorted off campus, this isn’t some political infight something very disturbing must have been reported.

SHHHHHhhhhh! You might be paying for it but you are NOT allowed to know what IT is! The educational system needs to be extremely ashamed of itself for this cover-up. Why on earth would the public not have the right to know what’s been going on at LTCC with a student outreach director/coach? Are they afraid there are more “victims” or something? If it is a fact that Wade was escorted off campus then the details need to be made public so that there’s no concern that something really bad has been ‘swept under the carpet’.
    Where’s the media?

Being “escorted out the door” is the way Casinos usually handle firings not usual for educational sites and then saying nothing. Can not believe the tax payers don’t have a right to know.

Ben, you are entitled to and should respond. Otherwise the readers will only have the nastiest of thoughts as to your dismissal. This is in a sense character assassination as presented by the above article in LTN. (No fault of LTN)
Kindred had no problem attacking city councilwomen Jo Ann Conner in writing so what laws or ethics are holding her back now in informing her taxpayer employers of Ben’s transgressions.

Cynical as we are at times, it doesn’t necessarily mean cover up it could be many other factors so far beyond the public’s reach.

But in time the story will emerge, they always do.

It is just a very strange situation. Hopefully details will come out that stop our imaginations from filling in the gaps. RIP – Old Long Skis. Your comments will be greatly missed!
