A white Christmas at Tahoe and across the High Sierra has set off a rush for holiday lodging and driven up prices across the board.

Even the 1-star hotels are getting in on it. For New Year’s weekend at South Lake Tahoe, a 2-star hotel on Hotels.com is going for $219 a night for a New Year’s Eve check-in. Motel 6 was sold out. For Christmas weekend, Motel 6 was selling rooms at $135 a night and had only five rooms left.

Those room rates are B.S., there is not a room in Tahoe that’s worth what they are asking. What a rip off. South Lake Tahoe, You should be ashamed of yourself.

Seems as though the best way to have people return to Tahoe would be to not over charge for rooms and make people want to return, when will you people learn??
Screw them now and they won’t return and they will tell their friends who will tell their friends etc, etc.
Soon you will price your self out.

It’s called ‘what the market will bear’…basic business principles. Many of these Bay trash tourists have no trouble spending two or $300 a night for a room in the Bay Area. New Year’s in Tahoe? No big deal. I jack up my wood prices after Xmas every year! $$$

These comments are clueless ..clearly the supply is far outweighed by the demand.
