Two people sledding near the Mount Rose Highway have been hospitalized after crashing into a parked vehicle.

North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District says the incident happened about noon New Year’s Eve in the Meadows area that is popular for sledding.

Two people were hurt in the crash and taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno. One person was airlifted and the other was taken by ambulance. Fire department spokesperson Tia Rancourt said their conditions weren’t immediately available.

Bigs, just because no problems have been reported doesn’t mean there haven’t been any. This town is great at whitewash. Wouldn’t want to alarm the visitors.

I have a contact that works in ER at Barton. She recently expressed that the sledding related injuries far outnumber the skiing/boarding related injuries. Factor in the fact that skiing/boarding is quite obviously much more popular than sledding. There really is no comparison. Sledding hurts!

Out of control sledders smacking into parked cars. Shocking. They are a road side nuisance.

Snowglobe had one fatality a few years back and there are plenty who suffer from hypothermia and drug induced injuries. Actual numbers of crimes and injuries are not always reported. All that big city crime stuff tends to scare off the people who support our little town.
