Garden Valley Fire Chief William Dekker resigned today, five days after his latest arrest on DUI charges.

Details of the separation have not been released.

The board of directors for the West Slope fire district met Dec. 22. They appointed Linda Szczepanik as interim chief. Dekker was pulled over Friday afternoon. This was not his first alcohol related arrest.

Sounds like Linda Szczepanik, and the board may be as corrupt as Dekker. It’s apparently a huge mess over there, may be time for an investigation and house cleaning.

What’s up with these high income officials getting tanked and getting behind a wheel?! I think all these officials need to be tested for drug and alcohol abuse! Come on, where is the countabilty here for these losers on the tax payer dime!

Regular drug testing should be done for ALL government/civil employees on the taxpayer dime.

Elected, school bus drivers, secretaries, City managers anyone getting paid by the taxpayers should be tested regularly and don’t say it would cost too much money…don’t even go there.

With a record like his, it is very hard to understand how he got hired. Of course, that is if anyone actually looked at his record. It seems that El Dorado County is not particularly good at researching the records of prospective employees. And, for some reason, bad records seem to disappear within the cabal.
