“Improve South Lake Tahoe’s visual character.” simple.

    a. Take a D-9 Cat and demolish Little Norway and Tveten Town.

    b. Get rid of the junk yard (storage lot) by the airport.

    c. Move Meeks Lumber from Trout Creek to the Y and restore that part of the meadow. Put in a “real” bridge over Trout Creek.

    d. Move Motel 6, Carrows and the old Outdoorsmans (Grocery Outlet) to other locations then send in the D-9 Cat – again. Restore that section of Upper Truckee. Put in a “real” bridge over Upper Truckee.

    e. Rebuild the Tennis Courts on Rufus Allen.

    f. Bring back the Movie Theaters to the Y.

    g. Remodel the Bijou Shopping Center, it needs it.

    h. Expand the Recreation Center Pool.

    g. Partner with some wealthy sports sponsors and build a world class winter training facility in town.

That’s a start and 5 minutes worth of ideas.

rock4tahoe – your ideas are great. make sure you share them with the city not just this website. the only way the city will make improvements is for people like you to get involved.

Of Rock’s ideas, all but e, h and maybe g have to do with private property. If he sincerely believes these things should be done, I’ll support it so long as he buys the properties and makes the changes. Otherwise it’s using taxpayer money which is a bad idea.

I like your ideas Rock! I would also like the City to return the proper name to the “Sierra Tract” neighborhood: The LEGAL name is the TAHOE SIERRA Subdivision!
I don’t know how the “Tract” got into what it is called today, but it is just awful – sounds like it is a low-end area. We are proud of our neighborhood, and would like to see the PROPER name restored, which would be reflected in any signage, references, etc.
