Historically, the ground floor of this landmark building was the large Camp Richardson Dining Room for the summertime guests of the resort.

Dinner was served from a fresh menu typed daily. Or, a fisherman could leave his catch at the kitchen to be enjoyed that evening as prepared by staff and served to his table. Notice the wood-burning stove pipe at left, and the fireplace on the far wall.

After the neighboring general store building collapsed under snow load in 1985, most of the historic dining room became the new general store while retaining the fireplace end of the building and a few tables. Summertime adds several more tables, just outdoors on the lawn.

Thanks Bill. It makes me think about the grocery store out there. It was managed by the original Lampson’s market about where McDonalds is today. Bob and Linda Sanfilipo ran the store. They set it up in the spring and run it through the summer. I worked in the meat market at Lampson’s. The walk-in cooler and freezer including the refrigeration and wooden doors are still working at Overland Meat Market. I became friends with Tom Sanpilipo at Lampson’s. He had great stories about the winter of 1952 and one room school house were TJ Max is today which became the Carpenter’s Union Hall behind the American Legion Hall.
