Barton on cutting edge with digital medicine
By Robert Glatter, Forbes
In a first, Barton Health will implement a unique digital medicine offering for treating hypertension, one of the most common chronic medical conditions in the U.S.
Referred to as Proteus Discover, the digital medicine offering incorporates an ingestible sensor – activated upon contact with stomach acid–which provides the information needed for patients and their physicians to partner on their health. This could include information related to a patient’s vital signs and the exact time the digital medicine offering was taken.
Proteus Discover, which utilizes FDA-approved technology incorporating ingestible digital sensors developed by Proteus Digital Health, represents the first commercial use of such technology after the recent success of initial clinical trials evaluating efficacy and reproducibility of the innovative monitoring technology.
Personally I would appreciate if they focused on doing the basics well at an affordable/competitive price, rather than fancy stuff.
I had emergency room treatment for a medical condition twice this past year once at Barton Hospital, Then again at Carson Tahoe Hospital. Barton’s Rates were over twice as much as Carson Tahoe for the same treatments and ended up costing several thousand dollars more for the same care.
I agree Barton needs to focus on being much more competitive in their pricing
My husband was charged $13000. to have the inside of his knee scraped out. He was placed in a chair, not a bed while he recovered. $13,000! Ridiculous! They need to focus on more affordable care and their reputation for being the staph infection capitol.
Once again…Barton should remember that just because you can is not a reason you should.
Barton is a very expensive place to be injured or ill. It results in a reduction in the number of patients willing to go there, and I am one of them who will not unless it makes economic sense.
It they wanted to they could write the book on how to be a great rural hospital, but no…they seem to be heading to research at the expense of locals.
Crank,
Speaking of ‘local’s Mrs. Lisa(Robert) Maloff recently donated over $10,000,000.00 to Barton Memorial Hosp.
You are LUCKY to have that hospital.
