Skier in Wyo. loses gun in crash on slopes
By Mark Huffman, Jackson Hole Daily
A skier who crashed last week at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort got up and dusted himself off but left behind part of his gear: a loaded handgun.
The skier’s name was not given by resort officials or the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, but the resort said the man was a Wyomingite, though not a Jackson Hole resident. The man was reunited with his weapon when he called to say he had misplaced it.
The on-mountain firearm broke no Wyoming law or resort rules, though it did surprise people.
He must be using it for avalanche control.
Maybe he saw The Revenant and was prepared for grizzly.
Why does someone need a gun on a ski slope?
Hi Kae,
The whole article is blank.
Thanks
Sorry about that. It’s fixed.

Can we carry guns at Heavenly or Kirkwood ?
Heavenly is interesting as it is in two states and falls under El Dorado county, USDA, City of South Lake Tahoe, Douglas county sheriff and the Vail corporation jurisdiction which all govern the rules. I would imagine you would have to find out the policy for going onto federal land with a local (EDCOSD) concealed permit as I would think the USDA has final say as they do on most Federal land that most ski resorts sit on. Look for the signs on forbidden objects coming soon to a resort near you.
Wyoming is an open carry state and Cal is not thanks to Moonbeam’s attack on the Constitution allowing law abiding people to be armed. I am sure the person was checked out by the Sheriff’s there for their background and if they were legal and it looks like they were, looks like someone was being very careless.
I’m sure without his gun this guy felt insecure at all his Apres Ski encounters-ruining his self esteem-luckily he got his manhood back
Justn. First, I am glad nobody picked up this guy’s piece and shot anybody. This argument of gun safety has been going on since before the Earps versus the Cowboys in Tombstone Arizona. Guns kill about 33,000 Americans each year, this is the 21st century, surely we can do better.
Justice, you lack of logic is stunning. Until the Supreme Court strikes down such laws that restrict open carry as being inconsistent with the 2nd Amendment (which they have yet to do), those laws are constitutional.
