The world is flooded with garbage.

There will be more plastic than fish in terms of weight in the world’s oceans by 2050, the World Economic Forum warned Tuesday.

Plastic has become one of the world’s most popular materials, combining amazing functionality and very low production costs. Its use has increased 20-fold in the past 50 years and is expected to double again in the next 20 years.
Almost everybody in the world comes into contact with it — over a quarter of all plastic is used for packaging, the most popular use of the material.

Ironic. An article related to the massive amount of plastic garbage in the oceans while the City Counsel votes to keep plastic bags. Full speed backwards South Lake Tahoe!

Exactly how do plastic bags in Tahoe get into the ocean?

    Well Rob5 Let me explain,

An African swallow flies to Tahoe with a coconut. It wraps the coconut in plastic bags it finds in the lake.

The swallow then waits for the first global warming caused wind to help carry him to the ocean. Then he drops the coconut and plastic bags into the ocean.

Simple as that. There are numerous multi billion dollar government studies that support this phenomenon.

It has been dubbed the Monty Python effect.

Rob and Sun. It is all plastic garbage and it is in the Oceans, in Lake Tahoe, along the Upper Truckee, along the Lower Truckee, in the meadows, on the beaches, along our trails, buried under the sand at Kiva, Baldwin, Pope.

Tom Davis and Hale Cole can start picking it up. After years of picking up this crap as a volunteer, I am done wasting my time trying to keep Tahoe clean.

I have been picking up trash for thirty years up here when walking my dogs. I use my leftover plastic grocery bags from (Safeway in NV) where I shop now.

I have been part of the beach clean up for fifteen years or more. Very few plastic bags. We should look into Taka vodka bottles (courtesy of our homeless) and 7/11 food wrappers from our green high school students. Corona beer bottles seem to be popular among the litter bugs too.

Sun. I have been cleaning up the garbage for decades too, privately and as a volunteer. Yes, I can go about anywhere in the Tahoe Basin, find a plastic bag on the ground, fill with other trash and dispose properly. What is the point if the “so called” leaders don’t get the point?

Can I pick up the tires, furniture and old tv’s out in the woods… maybe or maybe not. That is NOT the point. The point is to start somewhere to end the garbage and the garbage mindset that says, heck I can leave it anywhere.

As I said. I am done. Hal, Tom and Joann can pick up the garbage now.
