‘Cinderella’ to be performed at STHS

South Tahoe High School’s drama students are putting on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” this month.

It is the same fairytale with a few new twists. This contemporary take on the classic tale still features the classic music, plus some new songs. The show includes new characters, transformations, a pumpkin coach, and glass slippers.

Directed by Nannette Niven and choreographed by Marcia Sarosik, the cast includes Stephanie Hernandez as Cinderella and Zane Brady as the charming prince, with Aurora Gooch as the fairy godmother, Zoe Greco as the stepmother, and Kristen Harnett and Serenity Sanchez as the stepsisters. Rounding out the cast of more than 40 students and a whole group of singers and dancers.  Conducting the 20-piece orchestra is Casson Scowcroft, with vocal music direction by Alyssa Little, sets by Drake Niven, and assistant direction by Ethan Niven.

Performances are Jan. 15, 16, 22, and 23 at 7pm and Jan. 17 and 24 at 2pm in the South Tahoe High School TADA Theatre. Tickets are $15, $10 for those younger than 18. Children under 4 are not permitted.

There will be a gala on Jan. 22 from 5-6:45pm to raise money for the South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Booster Association. Despite its name, this is a dress-as-you-please event in the Student Union preceding that evening’s performance of “Cinderella”. Refreshments will be provided by the STHS culinary students, a photo booth will include a glass slipper, and there will be a silent auction.

Tickets to the gala are $40; $50 for the gala, plus a discounted $10 general admission ticket to the performance; and $75 for the gala, discounted ticket and preferred seating.

Tickets may be obtained by emailing sthspaba@gmail.com or calling 530.545.2307.
