EDSO going to the people to talk facilities

El Dorado County Sheriff John D’Agostini is planning to have town hall style meetings throughout the county in each of the supervisor districts.

The topic of the meetings will be the new sheriff’s office facility on the West Slope. D’Agostini will be discussing details of the building: progress, location and representatives from the local architectural firm, Arch Nexus, will also be present. The sheriff is looking for the public’s feedback and input on the project and the design of the building.

Our current office was built in 1971. The department has outgrown the facility in size and functionality.

The meeting schedule is:

District 1
Jan. 28 at 6pm, El Dorado Hills Fire Department, 1050 Wilson Blvd., El Dorado Hills.

District 2
Jan. 25, 6pm, Pioneer Park Community Center, 6740 Fairplay Road, Somerset.

District 3
Jan. 26, 6pm, American Legion Hall, 4561 Greenstone Road, Placerville.

District 4
Feb. 1, 6pm, Pilot Hill/Cool Grange Hall, 1701 Highway 193, Cool.

District 5
Jan. 27 at 6pm, Pollock Pines Community Center, 2675 Sanders Way, Pollock Pines.

The last I heard the Sheriff wanted to tax county residents somewhere around 100 to 300 million for a new dream facility that would take decades to pay off. This should be soundly rejected as it is debt the county doesn’t need. The current office and the many rentals are working fine for now, any new office should be combined with the jail for a huge cost savings. The Sheriff on this point, is way off base.

When they schedule these “community outreach” meetings, rest assured a tax increase is typically lurking in the shadows.

He just another politician like the rest of them. They speak with Forked-tongue.

The problem I have as a taxpayer is that at this time, the County has demonstrated absolutely zero fiscal responsibility. When there is no fiscal discipline, it is madness to take on additional debt or even spending of any kind. Regardless of the “need”, the selfish bureaucrats must change their bad behavior before any rewards are given.

The first thing you should do when you are in a hole is to stop digging.

The solution to this is the same as the fire dept money grab attempt last year…simply vote no if it is a ballot issue, and we should all scream to the supervisors.

I do not believe the sheriff needs all this new real estate. We are not really a crime ridden county (especially if you don’t count the elected officials.)

To the Sheriff- No thanks on a new center for EDCSO or for a jail. Save the gas money. We have bigger things to handle in the county- in case you just woke-up from a long slumber or something.
