Reno-Tahoe market to get UberSKI service
By Jason Hidalgo, Reno Gazette-Journal
Uber is doubling down on the area after its recent Tahoe launch by offering passengers an additional service option.
The ridesharing company announced that its UberSKI service is now available to customers in the region, making Reno-Tahoe only the second area in the nation to have the option available.
UberSki allows passengers to request an UberX car — the designation for the company’s low-cost vehicle option — but with all wheel drive and a ski rack for transporting skis and snowboards. Using the service will add a $5 base fee to a customer’s fare.
FYI: Uber is not allowed at the airports. Check out the Public Utility Commissions website. They have skirted too many rules and have been put on notice. They would have to pay for too many electronic passes to enter the limo/taxi areas of the airport. They focus on taking peoples money, not paying for permits that the rest of the transportation world has to have. Also, check out some of their facebook pages where they laugh and have contests to see who was able to jack up people’s fares during peak periods. They were getting anywhere from $90. – $450.00 for in town trips.
I heard on the news that they can TAKE you to the Calif. side, but they cannot PICK YOU UP. Better check into this a bit …
Uberski is only available on NV side but will be CA side any day now, regular Uber has been running a month. A CA licensed driver can only pick up in CA but can take you anywhere and vice versa. They are allowed at airports and get a special sticker for the airport in their state. It’s being working great in SLT.
