Crime went up in El Dorado County in 2015 compared to 2014.

Sheriff’s investigators want another year of data to be able to analyze if the change is because of Proposition 47. That is the voter-approved initiative that changed how some crimes are reported as well as the sentences for them.

One reason the number of rapes escalated is that as of Jan 1, 2015, that data includes reports not previously reported. There was also a change in reporting criteria for auto thefts as of that same date.
