‘The Horse’ exhibition makes final stop in Reno

Worldwide, horses have played an important role in wars, sports and agriculture.

In Nevada, they have helped to deliver mail on the Pony Express trail, they have riled the crowds at the rodeos, and they have changed the landscape of our high desert hills.

The Nevada Museum of Art’s newest exhibition: “The Horse,” focuses on humans and their relationship with horses from a natural history angle. The exhibition, which opened Saturday, will last through July 3 in the John Hawley Olds LaGatta Gallery and the Robert Z. Hawkins Gallery.

“If there’s one place to learn about horses and what they mean to our civilization, this is where you should go,” said JoAnne Northrup, director of contemporary art initiatives at the Nevada Museum of Art.
