Pedestrian hit in Meyers

A South Lake Tahoe man sustained serious injuries after being hit while walking on Highway 50 in Meyers.

Roberto Luna, 21, of San Francisco was arrested on felony hit and run charges.

Scott Murphy, 26, of South Lake Tahoe was walking east on 50 east of Apache Avenue when he was struck on March 26 at 9:45pm. He was taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Luna’s vehicle was found at Hard Rock; and he was located inside the Stateline casino.

According to the CHP, Luna was talking on the phone when the accident occurred. Officers said he was going 50 in a 40 mph zone.

    Yes the driver was distracted, but once again, reduce the speed limits and save a life !
    Why don’t we have those flashing speed signs that say the speed limit is this and your speed is this. Should be one on hwy 50 before the the South Upper Truckee intersection in Meyers, and the speed limit should be 35.
