Storms add significant water to Lake Tahoe

The recent storms in Nevada and California have given Lake Tahoe a boost, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms added about 5.9 billion gallons to the lake, according to NWS meteorologist Marvin Boyd in Reno. More precipitation is expected in the weeks ahead, and that plus snowmelt should help raise the lake level.

“We’re pretty close to where we’re supposed to be right about now,” Boyd said Monday. “We do show some more systems coming through next week. … We’ll still get systems going through the area but they tend to be warmer.”
