Winter storm barreling toward Tahoe
A winter storm watch has been issued by the National Weather Service in Reno for the Lake Tahoe Basin from Saturday evening through Monday morning.
The storm will start with rain, which is expected to change to snow by late Saturday night.
Accumulations at lake level are expected to be between 6 and 12 inches, with 1 to 3 feet of snow above 7,000 feet.
High winds will also be part of the storm, with ridge gusts of more than 100 mph.
A mix of rain and snow is forecast for much of next week.
Temperatures will be dropping, with the highs on Sunday and Monday not much above freezing.
