Officers got a call early April 27 from someone who said there was a suspicious person in the doorway of a building in the Gateway area of Truckee.

Officers said they found Mitchell Hunt, 22, a large hunting knife concealed inside his jacket. An approximate 10-inch fixed blade hunting knife was booked as evidence.

Sgt. Bob Womack said finding weapons on suspects is not unusual. He said this is the second person in a week who had a knife.

“While both were cooperative, there is always the concern they may have mental health or other issues that present officer safety risks,” Womack said in a statement.
