Nevada GOP critical of Sandoval, taxes
By Seth A. Richardson, Reno Gazette-Journal
Gov. Brian Sandoval’s education tax plan was front and center at the Nevada Republican Party state convention on Sunday as lawmakers passed a resolution denouncing him and like-minded lawmakers for passing the tax.
More than 1,000 delegates showed up to the second day of the convention. The body passed a resolution rebuking the governor, a Republican, as well as other lawmakers who voted for the Commerce Tax during the 2015 Legislature. The resolution originally contained language only honoring those who worked against the tax plan, but was amended to include the denouncement.
Chairman Michael McDonald said while he didn’t necessarily agree with the castigation, it was fully within the convention body’s right to do so.
