Pony Express re-creation to ride through Hope Valley

The annual re-ride of the of the Pony Express from Sacramento to St. Joseph, Mo., will pass through Hope Valley on June 16 at about 9am — give or take two hours on either side.

This is a 10-day ride that has more than 600 riders traveling 1,966 miles nonstop. They follow the historic Pony Express Trail.

The Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company carried letters and telegrams for 19 months in 1860-61.
