Man charged in South Lake Tahoe bank robbery

A South Lake Tahoe man is behind bars for allegedly robbing the El Dorado Savings Bank in South Lake Tahoe on Friday afternoon.

Gabriel Antonio Evans, 36, was arrested at his residence in the 3000 block of Riverside Avenue at 7:45pm July 1.
Due to Evan’s past violent criminal history, the SWAT team was called in to make the arrest, according to officers.
No weapon was displayed. The amount of money taken is unknown. Nor is it known if has been recovered. The robbery happened just before 1pm Friday at the Al Tahoe Boulevard branch.
This is the second bank robbery this week on the South Shore.
“We have not made a connection between that bank and this bank robbery at this point,” Police Chief Brian Uhler told Lake Tahoe News.

I know this guy. He lives around the corner from me. I was always curious how he supported himself, because I never saw him go to work. I wonder if he may have had something to do with the clerk that was killed at the gas station on Lodi and Lake Tahoe Blvd a few years ago? Great job SLTPD!
