Nevada’s best contemporary art hangs in one room

Whether it comes to sports or outdoors or style, there always seems to be a line drawn in the sand between Nevada’s North and South.
When it comes to art, however, that line is beginning to fade.
The Reno-based Nevada Museum of Art in the past year has made it clear that it is the state art museum, not just reserved for Northern Nevada. In August, the museum opened its Nevada-proud exhibition, “Tilting the Basin,” a collection of contemporary work created by in-state artists from either end. The exhibition, co-curated with Las Vegas-based art adviser Michele Quinn, lasts through Oct. 23.
