· South Lake Tahoe took time last week to recognize members of the South Shore law enforcement community. Entities singled out included: South Lake Tahoe Police Department, Nevada Highway Patrol, California Highway Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, search and rescue, STAR, probation, SLEDNET, and U.S. Forest Service.
· According to the latest figures, El Dorado County unemployment is at 5.6 percent and South Lake Tahoe’s is 6.1 percent. There was a time not so long ago that SLT’s topped 17 percent.
· South Tahoe High School and the Squaw Valley Academy made the list of most beautiful high school campuses in California.
· Sherry Rupert, an American Indian of Paiute and Washoe heritage and a native Nevadan, will speak on preserving the Stewart Indian School on Sept. 24. The free talk starts at 10am at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden.
