About a quarter ton of marijuana was confiscated on the West Slope on Sunday.

A California Highway Patrol officer smelled what he thought was fresh marijuana coming from trucks in the Apple Hill area.

A K-9 unit was brought in and then the trailers were opened. Inside, according to officers, they found 500 pounds of cut and processed marijuana.

Two people were arrested.
