John Nemes

A special fund has been established with Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra in the name of John Nemes.

Nemes was a long-time elementary school teacher in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District who died Oct. 2.

More than anything, he encouraged children to read by not only teaching reading, but by giving away many books.

The service club gives all children in grades K-3 on the South Shore on book as part of the summer reading program. In Nemes’ name they’d like to give each student two books.
