LTCC board to discuss theater program’s future
Lake Tahoe Community College’s board of trustees will have a meeting later this month to discuss disbanding the theater arts program.
The college is proposing to do so at the end of this academic year because of lack of enrollment and the expense to keep it going.
That does not mean the theater would be dark. College personnel envision it becoming more of a community theater, but not tied to academics/course credits.
Since the proposal to shut down the department first came to light last month, a petition has been circulating on Facebook to keep the program going.
The meeting will be Nov. 29, 6pm in the board room at LTCC.
