A memorial for South Lake Tahoe pioneer Marjorie Springmeyer has been erected at Bijou Community Park.

Springmeyer died earlier this year at the age of 93.

Her family used to own much of the property in the center of town. Springmeyers’ brothers and heirs still have substantial land holdings on the South Shore.

The plaque on the granite rock at the park acknowledges the family’s contributions as early settlers.
