Eldorado to reduce fuel cutting permit fee

Starting March 1, Eldorado National Forest will begin selling personal use fuelwood permits for $5 per cord.

Today permits are $15.

The minimum charge for a permit is $20, which will permittees four cords.

“The reduction in price will allow the public to obtain fuelwood for heating their homes at a lower cost,” Forest Supervisor Laurence Crabtree said in a statement, “and has the added benefit of reducing fuels in the forest. “
