As Douglas County begins working on its 2017-18 budget, commissioners have some leeway with funding based of what is anticipated to be a $2 million surplus.

Staff and commissioners came up with a slew of priorities this week. Next week there will be public hearings Monday-Thursday at 3pm in Minden where the public can voice their opinions.

The commissioners talked about using the money for raises, a storm water program and deputy county manager. Staff also recommended part of the money be used on employees.
