STPUD employees to get 4 years of raises

Employees of South Tahoe Public Utility District are expected to receive a 2½ percent raise for each of the next four years.

The board of directors at the July 6 meeting is set to vote on the contracts for employees.

“A survey of total compensation of industry comparable agencies will be conducted in the second year of the contract, with results discussed in future negotiations,” General Manager Richard Solbrig told Lake Tahoe News.

Also included in the contract is a clause to increase contributions to the retirement health savings account as the same percentage as the increase to the Blue Cross standard health plan premiums.

District employees last received a raise in July 2016, which was 2 percent.

In the same month raises are to be allocated the ratepayers will be paying more for sewer and water services. On July 1 water rates increased 6½ percent and sewer 6 percent. This will raise quarterly residential bills by about $16.35.
