Cloudy, smoky skies have replaced what started out to be a beautiful, sunny day in Lake Tahoe.

Fires south of the basin are responsible for the smoke.

Radar from the National Weather Service in Reno at 2:30pm showed several strong thunderstorms rolling into the region. Heavy rain and hail are expected. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph.
