The Truckee Ranger District is planning a prescribed fire of between 40 and 90 acres near Sagehen Creek on Highway 89 west of the highway starting Oct. 30.

A private contractor will be burning near Independence Lake.

This will only take place as long as weather, fuel conditions, and smoke dispersal remains favorable. Predicted weather forecasts over the week is for a more wet and cold weather pattern.
