While bobcats are known to live in the Lake Tahoe Basin, it’s unusual to see them.

It’s even more rare to see three at once. But that happened today.

Nancy Hedqvist spotted three cubs on Dec. 12 at about 1pm on Tahoe Mountain.

Even more rare is to seem them in the daylight because they are nocturnal animals.

Their food of choice is rabbits.

“They will also take small cats and small dogs, if given the opportunity,” Tom Millham with Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, told Lake Tahoe News. “They will definitely shy away from humans. Do not corner them. They will not attack humans, but, they will go ‘through’ someone if that is the only way out.”
